Waiting for response

8 days ago I completed my 8th interview for a Benefit Analyst position and was wondering how long I can expect to hear back from them?  I believe that each of the interviews went well, especially the one with the hiring manager.  A part of me wants to call the hiring manager or at least the contact/recruiter in HR to check on the status, but I also do not want to appear to aggressive.

Looking for any constructive comments or advice.

Wes the eight interview the final interview? Was it the one conducted with the actual hiring manager? Usually if there are multiple interviews for a position the final one is. Not always, but usually.

If you know the email address of the hiring manger and your perception is that he/she would appreciate the fact that you are so committed to working at the company then go ahead and shoot off a follow up email. Stress that you enjoyed meeting with her/him, include the high points or most important parts of the interview and how you know that you are qualified. Don' t re-hash the entire interview, but hit the highlights and/or most important parts.

Eight days is most definitely long enough for a follow up. Too long for me to wait personally. And, in several of my most recent experiences with hiring managers, they respond very well to a show of dedication and commitment on the candidates part.

If you haven't yet followed up, I don't think it's inappropriate to show intiative in an email and just quickly touch base to show you're still interested. After that, the answer is hazy. I, myself, am waiting as well and...it stinks. I had final interviews, I touched base about a week ago, and I know they've contacted all my references last week...so now it's just a waiting game.

It's like pulling teeth, but there's a fine line between being persistant/assertive and persistant/annoying. If you haven't emailed yet, go for it. If you already have, you might just have to wait it out. tongue
