Testing at interview.I have an interview tomorrow with the American Cancer Society for an Executive Assistant position. I' ve already had a phone interview which went fantastic. The person interviewing me will be coming from another state for interviews with myself & 5 others for the same position. I was sent an email stating that in addition to the interview I will also be given a test. There was no mention as to what type of testing would be done. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what it could be? I' d like to be prepared, but that is hard to do with no knowledge of the contents of the test. Probably an aptitude test. A personality questionnaire or something like that. It is said that these types of tests are to determine if you ate fit for the position or not. What you can do to prepare yourself is have a little research done in the field. Taking into account the position you are applying for and the company, I' d say they' ll give you some sort of aptitude test. I agree with the previous poster completely. Also, because it is an assistant position, you may prepare for an exam on Excel and Word. I' ve been temping for a year and one of the first things that I was tested on was my knowledge of Excel and Word so that I would be sent for certain assignments, mostly in data entry and the like. Even if you are highly skilled, it is something to look out for when applying to future Exec Ass' t positions. Testing for these positions can include any or all of these: ethics, morality, personality, computer skills, aptitude. Because you will undoubltedly be facing many issues of confidentiality, they will want to know how you handle yourself if you come across that situation. I have taken personality tests and they are, for the most part, repetitive in that the same questions are asked several times in different forms. I was once told, jokingly I am sure, that the test was so that the employers could determine if you are a psychotic homocidal maniac in training. I actually have a battery of tests for an interview tomorrow also. I have taken so many of them that now I just sigh and answer and don't think about my answers. If you try to analyze the questions, you are bound to mark an answer that may not be looked upon favorably. And, one more thing, I don't think I have ever taken a test that was identicle or even closely matched another. Sometimes, I think the company in question has had it made up especially for them. Which is probably the case, actually. | |
