Interviews

I have been out of work for 3 months. Been diligently working full-time to get a new position. Last week I had to interviews with separate companies for an underwriting job. Both interviews went well and I followed each one up as appropriately with thank you notes.

My last interview last week went very well and felt I was a great fit. At the end of the interview, the manager said you would call me by the end of next week either way. I asked if I could followup and if so, when. She said no need, I'd be getting a call. In addition, she supplied the information that it was down to the wire between myself, another external candidate and internal employee. I knew right then I didn't have a chance. Internal candidiates always get the job. Which is a good sign because it shows the company promotes from within.

I never got a call so yesterday afternoon I called and spoke to the manager. She apologized for not calling me but appreciated my followup. She then told me the job went to the internal candidate as I thought due to their product and system knowledge. Anyway, not I'm back to searching as it has never stopped. BUT come Monday I am going to call this manager and see if she can give me any contact information for other positions within the company.

All I can say is feel bad for a day but move forward: Network network anyway you can.
