CAPITALISM VS.RELIGION

Some televangelists are starting to stick in my nervous and angry spots.

If you happen to peak at some televangelist programs, you may notice a questionable message.

Some of these zealots are NOT preaching the Word of God. They are preaching about WEALTH!

Some sell a colored cloth and say: "call in and buy this "wealth cloth" and God will make you rich.

Some outright demand money for a ministry because doing so will "#### God" into sending you money some how.

I thought Christianity was about the basics, such as: feed the hungry, clothe the naked, heal the sick, visit me in prison etc.

What do YOU think of these "free enterprise" televangelists?

Are they there for a "get rich quick scam?"

Do athiests run homeless shelters? The answer is no.

That's the big problem with the hatred of Christianity in this country. They never talk about the thousands upon thousands of dollars given out as charity from Christian organizations around the world.

Compare that to athiest organizations and the "good" they do are pennies.

That is our system of competition and the power structure you talk about, not the morals of individual people. And organized none-church charity with much money exists too. As an 'atheist' I am a religious person. I am against a glorification of an institute that discriminates and promotes hypocrisy, with a lot of money though with good and bad influence. I am not against humane morals.

Actually, the majority of homeless shelters are run by municipalities or counties, not religious organizations.

Christian organizations are no more charitable than other religious organizations, or even secular organizations. Look at the charitable organization set up by Bill and Melinda Gates. I certainly admit that there are many Christian charities, but they have not cornered the market on good works.

Personally, my charitable giving is outside any church group (so you might consider it "athiest" (sic) giving). I donate 10% of my gross income every year to various charities (including homeless shelters). Have done for many years. Do you walk the walk, or do you just talk the talk?

I don't think Christians have a lock on Charity.  That is just BS.

Giving and good acts are not a Christian standard it is a ethical and moral standard that was around long before Christianity.

I personally give a significant portion of my time and money to a varity of causes each year.  None of them are "church" based.  All of them do good works.
