NAMI.ORGDon't forget that if you have an illness of the "stigmatizing" kind, another resource is the old: They have the same write to politicians that the other sites maintain. dp I am ashamed of the quality of mental help provided by my state given to the poor. I live in Massachusetts which offers the best health care system in the country and the only state with mandatory universal health care. The only exception to the quality of health care in my sate is the level of mental health care provided to the poor; it is pathetic and a disgrace! Bill Yes. Good point. It is "out of sight, out of mind." Two strikes against them: poverty and mental illness. I have never seen, heard, read or listened to a politician talk about mental illness or the general disabled. I once asked a local politician's phone aide what he thought about improving the mental death system and he replied(after a long silence) "we will get back to you on that."(He never returned the call.) If it is NOT a political issue it is an non issue and people have to suffer beyond imagination for it. dp | |
