OK, this seems to happen every year in the Spring or Summer.

Some young minority shows up at my door selling magazines or artwork.  They claim to be with some organization that helps young adults turn their life aound.  They have some sort of identification, etc.  They have a song and a dance.

I would love to help out some kids or young adults (whether they are minorities or not), but I have read/heard year after year that many times these kids are either running a scam or the people trucking them around are running a scam and they don't even know it.  So I always tell them that and say no.

Another thing that is odd is that many times they claim to have travelled hundreds or thousands of miles to come to my supposedly "successful" neighborhood (it is really just middle middle-income).  It just seems silly they'd go to such lengths.  It just sounds like a scam.

I wish if these organizations are for real they'd send us fliers a couple weeks before they show up so we can verify them.  If they can send kids hundreds or thousands of miles then they can afford fliers.

Are others seeing this sort of thing this time of year???
