do i stay or do i go

ok,

Been with this company over 4 yrs, responsible for managing field operations for over 300 stores, and 35 + p/t reps.  New boss comes in, makes tremendous changes in job & company, travel is now required 3-4 days a week, all travel is and has been out of pocket, for reimbursement at later date.  Usually over a month or longer till reimbursements come back.

Just got new area with additional 50 stores, that is appx 7hr drive from home, need to hire more reps realign territory, clean stores up, etc...directions are travel with no notice, pay up front for the travel, no compensation until next review, ( feb 08) ...I make under 36k a yr......

The last trip we were sent on, with no notice,(less than 24 hrs) we were told not to leave the area until we were finished, if we finished before saturday, we were to call the boss, and we would probably be sent to another neighboring state to work more !   All this craziness is due to a outside person that was managing areas, and just couldnt keep up with the business..... I finished my job, drove 7 hrs and got home at 9:00pm.

So here i sit, with a job, more work again, looong hours, goin broke to travel for them, and a memo that went to my file for insubordination because I was sent to an area, ( 6 hrs away, not MY territory, doin  a  job "because my boss didnt have time to do") of which I was not familiar with, did the jobs, and couldnt find a hotel, drove till 11pm,finally got a room in the middle of nowhere... I sent a frustrating email that I was ready to sleep in a state troopers hub !  I was written up for that !

How much is a person suposed to deal with on a so called "professional job".. ???????

You deal with it by being a professional yourself.  B!tching to your boss or whomever in an email because you didn't know where you were going is not the right answer.  If you don't like it, get out your resume and find something else.  An easy answer to why you're looking is that your job has changed to nearly all travel.

well, thanks for the response, I already decided to look for further employment, I realize the

b!tching in an email is non productive, but honestly, the longer you continue to perform and recieve absolutly no respect, it then begins to get more personal than professsional.  There are so many events that have occurred that have been defining moments, obviously they were not addressed in this "venting" posting.  Its not about not knowing where to go while on a road trip. Its so much more, that was 1 small event.

Ive learned alot from this company, especially how I wont allow to be "owned" by another one.

Thanks

Here's the thing.  You're going to run into all sorts of lousy work environments in your life for one reason or another.  The only thing you have total control over is yourself.  No matter how many things built up, the whining email was you.  That's the thing that got you written up and made you look bad and you did it to yourself.  Don't blame that on the company, look at it objectively and learn from it or you're going to have a rocky road in your future employment as well.

As they say, it is easy to look good when things are going well.  Make more of an effort to look good when things suck.
