You keep saying you are extremely smart. However, you're not coming across that way because an extremely smart person is able to figure out how to find a job despite all the obstacles that come their way and they overcome them. An extremely smart person is resourceful and resilient and doesn't make excuses. An extremely smart person clearly distinguishes between what they can do something about and concentrates on that instead of concentrating on the things they can do nothing about. An extremely smart person knows that complaining and blaming others and attacking other people is counterproductive and does not resort to it.
Ask yourself why I'm continuing to do ( what you describe as lame, albeit ) a job search for the last two years? Why do I get up in the morning every day from Monday through Saturday, going to a library, sit at public computers across from smelly ugly looking degenerates and use a computer's internet access?
To do that consistently, every day for over two years takes consistency and a sense of purpose.
You think I'm only doing this for fun? Guess again sweetie. I don't particularly like it.
I'd rather sit on my hind end watching tv all day, eat a nice bacon cheese burger submarine sandwich in the afternoon, munch on a bag of Dorito - nacho chips, and at night, eat a healthy serving of Ziti with extra cheese and grilled chicken.
Can't do it because I have no money, and what little money I do get I blow on lottery tickets hoping to score big to buy what I want to eat every night, when I do lose sometimes I starve that night with nothing to eat.
So you're wrong, I do have some dedication, some purpose, and am active contrary to what you want to believe. I think yes, that's being extremely smart, using what I know and can do to find my way back into employment however I can, when I can easily give up and do nothing.
Ask yourself, why doesn't he just give up, why bother at all?
You never bother to ask yourself that question because you're too busy wanting to make some stupid point.
How can you possibly say you are "consistently" searching for a job, when you are spending a good amount of that valuable time here on Monster? What are you accomplishing here? While you are typing all of your messages here, you are not getting anything else done.
Perhaps you should take the library more seriously. It is a place where you can find a wealth of helpful information in your job search. That is, if you are smart about it.
Of course, you think you know everything and don't need to learn or ask for help. That's NOT smart.

What's smart about someone like you or a book in the library, or an internet discussion board ( like this ) of idiots telling me things I already know, suggesting to me that I do things I already tried, not once, but a plethora of times.

I call that stupid.
I've changed the look of my resume, the content of my resume' many times. I've added, I've retracted, I've shaped, shifted and contorted it in every which way one can. Interviews : I've changed the way I look, I change the way I answer questions, ask questions, facial expressions, look up, look down, look left, right, or dead center into someone's eyes as if to hypnotize them.
Phone conversation : I've spoken softly, gently, loudly, I've given short answers, rambled onward and even asked if they had any further questions to call back again or as many times as they needed to if there was something, anything at all they for some reason just didn't get.
So you see, the question I ask of you regarding our little verbal discourse is this :
where do we go from here?

Probably because we know how he feels because we've been there, in one capacity or another, one time or another. We all know how hard it is, how defeated we have felt. We genuinely want to help, despite the attitude.
