Learned some inside informationKind of an update for my current situation. In the past, there were 2 people working as contractors for the govt, two FULL Time govt jobs opened up.....they applied for them, and even being "on the inside", they didn't get called in for the FIRST go around for interviews....mainly because it's based on a point system, and mostly computerized selection process....so hiring managers sometimes have NO say in who gets called in for an interview. They interviewed people who were considering relocating, they weren't interested in the position after the interview, so the positions were posted again....the same people (the contractors) applied for it. ONLY, this time their supervisor gave them a "Heads up" on how to answer the online application questions (basically......lie about how experienced you are on a rating from 1 to 5....just put all 5's...because, also, that's what everyone seems to do anyways....from what I hear from around the workplace) Let's say you answer honestly, and some person who doesn' tknow crap lies....well....HE'll ge tthe interview, NOT you. LOL Of course, I think he gets turned down at the interview. So say you have some experience, right? Say you have an average of "3" in experience, but you decide to take them up to 4's and 5's.....first of all, you're already working at the place, 2nd they might hire you anyways...esp if no one else is interested in the postion At any rate, my point here, even the BOSSES encourage this method. This one girl, she lied about her experienced, was hired on full-time....and the 20 year veterans were joking about how she was runing around like a chicken with her head cut-off asking anyone and everyone questionsa bout what she was suppose to do. lol But hey, at least she got the job....guess that's all that matters. ANd it's a govt job, so perhaps it's no big deal? Now, knowing what you know in this post....would you fudge on yoru application questions? Apparently, fugding on the application will get you past the "Bouncers"....and to the people that REALLY matter. lying might GET someone the job but will it keep them in that same job ? I doubt it highly - you can only bluff for so long before you get nailed - case in point a gal that had been laid off when a huge manufacturing plant closed down applied for and accepted a high level purchasing job at another huge company and one of the last in my old hometown. The job she got required a degree which she lied and said she had - her hopes were to get in the company and then move to where she DOES have a degree - of all things HR ! She was almsot a sure thing for an HR job with her background but management kept asking for her transcripts and she kept stalling jsut hoping that a job in HR would open and she could transfer - well management fired her for no degree and will never hire her again due to lying - and the sad thing is an HR job that should would have probably gotten came open within a week - if she had jsut not taken the other job and kept it honest she would be working for one of the highest paying places in my old town but now they will never hire her no matter what her qualifications are Yeah, but....this is a federal govt job....I think things like that are overlooked or not really taken that seriously, like I said, if the boss says it's okay to fudge, then he knows what you're capable of. What's funny is when these people ask you to rate yourself on a scale of 1-5, but don't say what to base the scores on. Well, I may not be very good with some piece of software, but since 80% of the workforce doesn't use it at all, I guess that puts me in the top 5th, and a rating of 5! I haven't done that before, but I would have no problem doing it if need be.
