I haveseveral kids, some are hers, some ours. We went from small town to bigcity and oldest daughter having a problem with it. Wife says she ismoving back and taking the kids, and I need to find a job back home,however it would mean a 50 - 70% pay cut, which we can't afford. She isnot as worried because everything in my name, not hers. I tried toexplain that it was a financially devestating suggestion, but she didnot want to hear about it. She has now moved back and I am still at my job, but she iscomplaining she has to take care of kids alone. She can't make oldestones help, and I tried to tell her it was a bad idea, but she refusedto listen. She calls at times stating she is fearful she may hurt kidsbecause she has little patience. Also threatens divorce if I don't getback soon, but then turns around and says would be stupid to give up80K job with benefits. I love my kids and miss then but at my wits end.Don't want to be homeless because she can't control her spending orbudget for future expenditures. Couples usually live together, so of course they influence each other's life and life choices. That can be difficult, also when both have a career. This one story is about character (of all involved and you don't know the entire story either). Sigh. There's a lot of male posters here starting these kind of threads !!! That's what guys get for going after the low-hanging fruit. If you don't want to end up like this, wear a rubber. Know what you want, and don't be afraid to clearly define roles and boundries. Don't settle for second best, and don't be a sucker. Don't get seduced by anothers agenda.
Hi Bodwen, With couples who both have careers, I have read examples when a highly educated man follows his highly educated partner abroad for her (or his) career opportunity. It is a matter of a good match and there are so many situations and reasons why relationships don't work out. WIth the 'threat' of 'getting lured' into something for men as well as women, long live condoms and other anti-conception methods. Easily fixed. Take her name off of all bank accounts and put her on an allowance. If she wants to live apart let her get a job to support her separate household. She has in essence initiated a marital separation, take it to the next step and initiate a legal separation this means doing the following:

Totally agree with this statement. If she willingly moved to the new location and committed to the new job, and then started pulling this crap and moved back its the only course of action you can really take. If the OP took the job and moved the family without ever talking it over with the spouse then that's a very different situation.
yeppers I agree and I am a female also by the way - sounds like while the guy is at it he might also want to sign his future ex wife upl for classes on how to deal with spoiled bratty kids who run her life !!! The KID didnt like the new place ? Well too bad - when you are paying your own rent and bills then you can decide where to live - how is this woman living by the way ? I hope the man isnt dumb enough to be footing all the bills
LMAO!!!!! AMEN! Or go get the kids, file for divorce, hire a nanny or find a quality day-care facility and request that the court order her to pay you child support. The legal standard is what is in the best interest of the children. If she alluded to the possibility she might harm them, they should be removed from her possession ASAP.
