I am not familiar with your field, so I can't give advice other than adjust your resume to the job you apply for. BTW on the Get the job boards is a resume check service and a board related to your field in Industry Insights. Good luck.
Good point, But it will not let me edit the post, any admins here that could pull my contact info off the post?
Most posts you can edit, though a lot slip through. You could phone them and ask for one of the moderators MCbrig or Mccathy to edit or delete the post (- I couldn't do it myself when I informed about it - ). Between "I haved been applying to 3-8 jobs a day" and "My Wife is ready to fly the coop here becuase I cant find any work.", I think that when you are done looking for a new job, perhaps you should consider looking for a new wife as well. Is she so unsupportive that, even in this economy and the fact that you're looking EVERYWHERE, she'd just pack it up and leave so quickly? Boards like these are generally informal, so just make sure your grammar and capitalization are better than you're showing here. You have (at least) 5 mistakes in your first 'sentence' alone. I know how you feel. I haven't gotten ANYTHING decent as far as callbacks- and I've applied to over 250 jobs since last October. I've gotten callbacks, but only for stupid finance places and contract or temporary work. None of the full-time permanent direct hire positions in my field seem to give a crap, despite the fact I have a LOT of experience. I'm glad I have a job, but still, this is getting ridiculous. Hey ABU- I am sorry you are having such a hard time, and I hope things get better for you. Mr. Stealth mentioned something that caught my eye. What about that temp work? Yes, I know. It is not the most desirable way to go. The way some people treat temps is deplorable, and most times you do not get the chance to fully demonstrate your talents and use your skills to their fullest potential. On the good side, It may offer you an opportunity to try-before-you-buy if it is temp-to-perm. At the very least, you will know who you DON'T want to work for. And most of all, A Paycheck is better than No Paycheck. That may get the wife to back off a little. I can understand she may feel like she is carrying the whole load, but she needs to be supportive of you now more than ever. You're under enough stress from not working, and she is adding to it. Just my 2 cents. Peace and Good Luck, TG
I feel your pain man it really sucks. My pain is just the opposite. I get interviews easily I even make it to the final cut most times, but then I get this letter/email saying they have chosen another candidate. I have asked a few companies what the problem was and It's always not enough experience. My recommendation to you would broaden your search for work. Apply to jobs you think are both above and below your current skill set. I did this and I have started landing many more interviews that way. I was over qualified for the entry level jobs I was applying for so I never got any interviews. Now I get lots of interviews and feel I will soon find a job. | |
