BUSH: MENTALLY ILL

Even though I am an avid, voracious advocate for the mentally ill population and therefore do not cherish labelling people; however,I must say, I have come to the conclusion that George Bush has really.....

LOST HIS MIND!

Seriously, I think the president has become a little "impaired."

dp

NO, if he were we might be able to understand some of the things this man is doing, he is just plan ignorant to what the American people want, and no one will stop the fool! That being said, I do agree that he definitely has a major problem!

tb:)

Maybe. Sounds like paranoia to me.

Being a "fool" is not a mental illness.

dp

I'm serious too!  When he was governor of this state, I said that he's dumber than a box of rocks; when he ran for president, I said, the man is dumber than a box of rocks.  Since he's been in office, he's proven to the entire world that he is DUMBER THAN A BOX OF ROCKS.

In addition, he doesn't care a whit about this country and it's citizens.  He has succeeded in ruining our economy, raking up an unprecedented, previously unimaginable deficit, eroding what few social programs we have, and firmly establishing our country as the most hated, vilified country on the face of the earth.  Countless lives have been lost, families devastated, because of his war.  His and his dad's.  Maybe he is losing his mind; one thing of which I am certain, he is not having a crisis of conscience about the deplorable job he has done as the leader of the land of the free and the home of the brave.  There is nothing brave or courageous about sending young men and women overseas to fight a war that is his personal vendetta.  There is no honor in rendering the middle and lower classes helpless to earn a decent living and enjoy a moderate quality of life while ensuring that rich cronies and corporations make billions off of their broken backs.  What kind of freedom entails that people work extra hours, for low pay, years longer than they envisioned, in an endeavor to avoid bankruptcy, pay medical bills and struggle to keep their homes out of foreclosure?  Those who have been fortunate enough to buy their own homes, that is.

You may be right about him being impaired; he is an alcoholic, maybe he's hitting the booze again.  Not that it could negatively affect his well-established inability to do the job we DID NOT elect him to do.

Sorry about the rant, but thanks, I needed that!

Wow, need a smoke.......

I hope you had a calming smoke.

But with all the negative things he has done to the country and body politic....

I sense that he is gradually becoming a sociopath.....no conscience.

dp

Actually, the smoke thing was kind of a metaphor.wink

We are in complete agreement on most of this; from what I understand, sociopathy (antisocial personality disorder) begins to manifest during childhood, but in children it is called "conduct" disorder.  He has some characteristics of a sociopath, but I think he leans more toward narcissistic personality disorder.

AGGRESSIVE SOCIOPATHS derive strong, yet nonperverse gratification from harming others. They like to hurt, frighten, tyrannize, bully, and manipulate. They do it for a sense of power and control, and will often only drop subtle hints about what they are up to. They polish their aggressive, domineering manner in such a way to disguise any intimidation others might feel. They seek out positions of power, such as parent, teacher, bureaucrat, supervisor, or police officer. Their style is one of passive aggression as they systematically go about sabotaging the ideas of others to get their ideas in place. In their spare time, they like to hunt or occasionally do sadistic things like find stray dogs and cut them up. They are usually effective at getting their way, and are especially vindictive if resisted or crossed. They don't follow the social norm of reciprocity like others do.

Diagnostic criteria for 301.81 Narcissistic Personality Disorder

A pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behavior), need for admiration, and lack of empathy, beginning by early adulthood and present in a variety of contexts, as indicated by five (or more) of the following:

(1) has a grandiose sense of self-importance (e.g., exaggerates achievements and talents, expects to be recognized as superior without commensurate achievements)

(2) is preoccupied with fantasies of unlimited success, power, brilliance, beauty, or ideal love

(3) believes that he or she is "special" and unique and can only be understood by, or should associate with, other special or high-status people (or institutions)

(4) requires excessive admiration

(5) has a sense of entitlement, i.e., unreasonable expectations of especially favorable treatment or automatic compliance with his or her expectations

(6) is interpersonally exploitative, i.e., takes advantage of others to achieve his or her own ends

(7) lacks empathy: is unwilling to recognize or identify with the feelings and needs of others

(8) is often envious of others or believes that others are envious of him or her

(9) shows arrogant, haughty behaviors or attitudes

Maybe a little of each!

DP and All,

"...however,I must say, I have come to the conclusion that George Bush has really.....LOST HIS MIND!"

Dubya had a mind to lose? When?

First of all I have to issue a disclaimer, I am as left as you can get (but I am from Massachusetts, so where I live, I am in the center!).

George Bush is not mentally ill.  Bush believes in his heart that what he is doing is good for the country.  I emphatically think what he is doing is wrong from Iraq to national health care.  America voted for him.  We knew his record so how can anyone be surprised?  What we have is buyer remorse.  He has certainly done long term damage to this country (Supreme Court), but again, WE (well not us from New England) VOTED FOR HIM!

George Bush does not live in the world you or I do.  He does not have to worry, nor ever has, if he will lose his job and be able to pay the mortgage and have health insurance.  His mind-set is something out of the 1920's.  The good news is that he has not damaged Social Security.  The bad news is we must deal with Social Security, health care, Iraq, the environment, national resources, etc (while not giving the country away to corporate America).

Again, we voted (not me) for him.  The country knew what it was getting.  No one should be surprised.  Lets just hope the damaged he caused to this wonderful country is not long lasting.

I would like to add that the entire world is mad at us.  There is a reason for this.  The world holds the United States at a much different level than all other countries.  The world has low expectations for Russia and China.  When they lose there way, their actions are expected.  But the expectations of the US are different.  The world has very high expectations and demands (not to mention needs) from this country.  The world looks to this country as the safeguard to human rights and opportunity.  It scares the world when the US does not stick to its core values because if the US doesn't, no one will.   The United States is the most important country in the world because of its values.  We have lost our way.  We are needed to keep this sick planet level.  The world depends on us for this.  While we have lost our way in the past (Vietnam), we have also recovered from our lapses.  Lets hope we can fix this mess.
