NRA members, are youwilling to cancel your membership to help save the lives of an already endangered species? Would you like to continue to give the NRA the right to hunt down Polar Bears (and many other animals) and shot them with high powered rifles? I'm begging anyone who has an NRA membership to cancel it. Our government sells to the highest bidder, in the case of the Trophy hunting of Polar Bears, the NRA managed to manipulate the vote. So basically the NRA and the idiots in the White House are controlling who lives and who dies. If you are concerned about the rights of animals, please let it be known by canceling your membership. If I can't convince you, their are some wonderful links that will show you exactly what your membership in the NRA pay for. Please help! Do you want Bush to determine what animals live, and which die? tb
I am not a memeber of the NRA, but I do know that polar bears are not the only animals hunted for trophies. Some animals are hunter for trophies on a wall, others are hunted for their furs and tusks, and others are hunted to produce beauty and age products.
Not me, I have not membership to cancel. I don't like what the NRA stands for - they don't stand for individual liberty and justice, they stand for the gun making corporations of this world. No sir, I do not support the NRA and don't see how Charlton Heston became such a great supporter of the NRA. We need a more humane side of gun support group. One that believes in the individual, does the right thing, and won't support those corporations.
They're also cafeteria constructionists [of the Constitution]. The pick and choose which amendment they want to (mis)quote and ignore the other ones.
Tango, you know I own firearms and rifles. I do hunt too BUT only for food and if I do not use it for food (deer, duck and pheasant), I give it to a local food bank for distribution to poor people. That being said, I am a firm believer in the right to bear arms. I am a law abiding citizen who is a responsible firearms owner (trained firearms specialist/instructor). I feel it is the governments responsibility to keep weapons out fo criminals hands. This is where the NRA comes in. They make sure the government does not take our rights away. If they take our right to bear arms away, what is next? I have to read up on this issue on the Polar Bears. But I do know this, the Polar Bears habitat is slowly melting and they are roaming into small towns looking for food. But I will nto condone any killing of polar bears just for the sport of it. Just like I do not like seeing big game animals like lions, tigers and other wild beasts killed for the sport. Hi Jackace79, You are so right, and the NRA sponsers the hunting of a number of ENDANGERED species, lions, tigers, elephants, you name it. They hide behind the name, Safari Internaternational. I'm working on the rescue of all Thank you! tb:) Species, You are such a smart person and I so enjoy reading your savvy comments! The NRA bought the Republican vote, and continues to stand in the way of any progress to be made with regard to the rights of animals. In my eyes, no one has the right to decide which animals live, and which die, they do not belong to anyone. Thanks again for tb:) I should point out that I am not making statements about whether or not people have a right to arm themselves, that is an entirely different issue. I do believe that owning a gun is your right, shooting an animal is not. tb Hi OC, Thank you for your response! With all due respect, we are talking about one of the most magnificent animals in the world, they are already an endangered species. The NRA bought the Republican vote to protect the Polar Bears, and through Safari International, they conduct trophy hunts, lions, bears, elephants, to name just a few species. This is not about your right to bear arms as I stated in my post, you do have that right! In my eyes, trophy hunters are criminals, they have found a loop hole in the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972, and have killed over 800 Polar Bears. The NRA bought the votes of the people that make the laws, the NRA cares nothing about you, or your rights. But you feel that it is okay for the NRA and our government to take away the rights of wildlife? I'll tell you what is next, extinction of animals on this planet, is your right to bear arms worth that? Please read about the killing of Polar Bears by Americans! They pay $30,000 to Safari International (yes, the NRA owns them too) and Canada, who has roughly half the world's polar bears, most ranging solely to partially with Nunavut's vast borders. Historically, sport hunting devastated local populations, leading to the signing of the 1972 International Agreement on the Conservation of Polar Bears. The NRA found a loop hole! Please try and understand, we do not have the right to kill animals to the point of extinction, but we continue to do it. Please understand this, these bears are being shot with high powered rifles, their heads are hacked off so some idiot can hang it on a wall. The Polar Bear Habitat is being destroyed by humans. You do not kill Polar Bears for any reason OC, you do not have that right! If you will not condone the killing, send your NRA card back with a letter to that effect, please. We have supplied plenty of links for you to read, please do it! OK Tango, I misunderstood the post. Sorry. I could never ever condione killing animals in the name of sport UNLESS the hunters use the animal for food. Did you hear about that 12 year old who shot a huge pig that was a farmer's pet? Apparently the pig got loose and wandered on land that was used for game hunting. The kid saw the pig and instantly shot it to death. I do not know if they are going to use the pig for food but hunting something that cannot run away is NOT sport! If the polar bear is indeed an endangered species then the United States must enact laws to protect it like they did with the Bald Eagles. But because polar bears are not native to the 48 lower states and Hawaii, I doubt anything will be done about it. Money talks. | |
