tb:) I knew that when I "checked it out" it would make me mad and sad. It did. My very dear, handsome, 22 year old nephew is flying in from Germany the 15th. He'll spend one week in Texas and one week in Oregon visiting other family. Then guess where he's going after that ? It's really breaking my heart. Folks just don't understand the hard reality of having a family member " in Iraq or going to Iraq" unless they've experienced it. I certainly didn't until the news came. I'm angry. I want to kick somebody's butt for sending him someplace he has no business going. Do I want my nephew to die for this country?.... Hell no. This country isn't worth it.
( Sorry so depressing.... )
tb:) Navy Seal. That's impressive! Hope your son is well. Hope he is enjoying what he does. My heart goes out to all the guys and gals in the service and their families.
Veterans....hope the site helps your job search. ~ Peace ~ I will keep both in my thoughts and prayers I know it is not much of anything, but I so do appreciate your nephew and TB's son for serving their country. Peace, A VERY Grateful Troll Hey Troll: We appreciate your appreciation ! ~ God Bless America ~ .....( we need it ) ~ Peace ~
It would break my heart if my nephew had to go serve. We all hope your nephew and tango's son make it back safely and in excellent health. They truly are American heroes. I agree with you, our country, as things stand, is not worth it; even less deserving of their service is the war they were sent to fight. Don't apologize for your very valid feelings. You are in excellent company. Peace, sooner, not later! Well Atty......you know, the way I see it ( and I may be wrong - someone do correct me if I am ) it's the rich politicians who couldn't give a rat's a$$ about our soldiers. I am so sick of the phrase people say, "They are serving our country". That's a bunch of B.S. Our military is serving the rich man. Period. And how the hell is it that they are fighting for our freedom. Is it not that they are fighting to keep the rich man rich? From ABC news here is what one soldier said:As a patriotic American proud to serve the nation in uniform, I respectfully urge my political leaders in Congress to support the prompt withdrawal of all American military forces and bases from Iraq. Staying in Iraq will not work and is not worth the price. It is time for U.S. troops to come home. Well yes, they are supposed to be, but WHEN? Damn Congress. Here, from USA Today: Can Congress stop the war?Lawmakers have the constitutional authority. What they may not have, however, is the will.My nephew is more than a nephew. I've known him all my life. He is like my own son. I've played with him; I've punished him; I have been close to him. Again......I do not want him dying for this country. Just because he's going to Iraq doesn't mean he is going to die. When can die anytime. I'm just angry that he IS going to Iraq. I won't say anymore. Hey, I hear you, and agree 100%! I grew up in a very patriotic family, the men served our country(and they were democrats). Now, democrats are called unpatriotic for wanting to end the death and bring our young men and women home where they belong. Thankfully, some republicans are calling for an end. This war wasn't a mistake, it was an enormous deception, based on lies and personal agendas. The loss of lives has been way beyond anything we could have imagined. I never had children, so my niece and nephew are the closest I will ever have to children. (human children, I have pets that are like my kids) I was 16 when my nephew was born and he was the light of my life. A prouder aunt there never was. He is now in his 30s, a very successful engineer. I will never have to worry about losing him in Iraq. I cannot imagine how horrified and frightened you and your family must be. Notwithstanding how I feel about the war, I view our soldiers as heroes. The question is, when will we have representatives in Washington that actually do represent us and do what is best for our citizens and country? I am cynical enough to believe that I probably won't live that long. | |
