Entry Level Job Requirements
It's frustrating to see all these entry level jobs posted, but the qualification/requirements for the job are 2-5 years of specific experience. They will not even consider a Bachelors Degree as experience. In my opinion that is no longer an entry level job if you require that much specific experience.
I would suppose that it would depend upon the job, however you are right. What you are describing is not entry level.
Actually, it is entry level in most industries. Intern/Entry-level is anywhere from 0-5 years. Worker bee is anywhere from 3-7 years. Senior staff/supervisor/lead is anywhere from 5-10 years. Management is anywhere from 7 years plus. Of course some are more, some are less. And no, a degree is not the same as experience. You need both to advance.

If the company wants 2-5 years experience for an entry level job (admin assistant was the job) how do you get that experience if most employers are wanting that kind of experience? Someone has to just take a chance on you? I feel the entry level label is fine if you prefer someone with 2-5 years of specific experience, but to require that much experience to even get an interview is in my opinion not an entry level job. That might not be standard in all industries, but it definately makes getting experience pretty hard when everyone requires you to already have experience.
I was taking your advice from an earlier post and found industries and companies I would like to work in, and applied for admin assistant and customer service jobs, but I'm not even qualified to be an admin assist according to the HR department at those companies. How do you get 2-5 years experience for an Admin Assistant job? You work while in school, even part-time or during the summer. You get an internship whlie in school. You volunteer somewhere. You start at a small company. You do projects for your little league that are administrative in nature... You have 2 years of work experiene in something else and you make a case for why that applies.

Employers seem to want a BS/BA for everything... I flip the bird at my computer (no offense computer) when I see these ads for jobs that I am qualified for but don't have my degree yet!!!!
Don't feel bad. My BS degree has bought me nothing as most every co. wants exp. I am faced with entry level s**t jobs if I want to work at all.
