What do I do

Well, I got myself into a mess.  I've vented about this job before and now I realize that I made a huge mistake by taking this marketing assistant job.  I've had problems with the boss' assistant pretty much since day one and now I have problems with him.  I made a couple of mistakes, took responsibility, said my mea culpas if needed, whatever I had to do, I'm a grown up.

A seminar didn't go well (long story - did everything right even according to boss) and now, I'm pretty much persona non grata around here.  The boss barely says hello to me, the assistant shuts me out of everything and I literally have nothing to do, save for the few mailings I do for a junior agent.  Our team meetings have come to a complete halt.  The boss just won't show up and cancels them at the last minute.  We had a charity golf outing, I was told to mind the office and maybe show up for the dinner, although there really wasn't any need for me to go at all, according to the assistant who shut me out of any and all planning.

Top it off with some info I recently got that the boss is doing something that has given the assistant some dirt on him.  From one of his business assoc. I learned that the other guys have pretty much pulled away from him and that the assistant is lying for him about where he's at, what he's doing, etc.  He's either having an affair or into some kind of activity that would get him into trouble (drugs?  alcohol? don't know)  He also seems to like his little group of "giggle girls" at his outing, which is why business assoc. thinks I was suddenly "asked" not to come.  I was told he likes to have the young girls around to make him look good.  I'm not young, but I'm reasonable attractive, so that feels just great.

I went anyway and did my face time, very uncomfortable.  Basically, no one, including the boss, spoke to me with the exception of about 4 people that I don't work with.

Now, I've been there about 6 months, do I start looking?  The boss is an avoider, so he won't fire me unless I do something so out of line he'd have no choice.  Don't bother telling me to talk to him, I've done that about 4 times and nothing comes of it.  The assistant's got too much dirt on him for him to risk ticking her off.  And frankly, I don't think he really wants to do any of the marketing that I have suggested simply because that would require that he actually spends time in the office rather than doing whatever it is he does (he's in about 1 hour a week).  HELP!!

Sorry to hear about the lousy treatment you're getting from the nincompoops at your work.
