Registered with Selective ServiceWhen applying for Federal Jobs, they question if you've registered with "Selective Service" What is this...and I read up on it, it says if you're only 18 to 25 that you can register, but I'm older than that. So does it apply to me? If you're male, they will hound you your whole life about it. You can't even get financial aid if you're 45 years old and a military veteran without showing your DD-14 or whatever it's called. It's sex discrimination pure and simple and would not be happening if we had passed the Equal Rights Amendment.
Everyone needs to register now; anyone over 45 is too old to register. I just don't get it with this age board - I just don' get it. They want to see if you registered for the draft. As in if you are 30 and never registered, you could be denied a fed job. It does run out, as in if you are around 45 it wont be held against you. I thought if you already served inthe military...you didn't need to do it ( I was in the Air Force).
Right, but you may have to prove you served, with a document.
When applying for Federal Jobs, they question if you've registered with "Selective Service" Is the question whether you have registered, or whether you are registered? If it's whether you are registered, and you're not male 18-25, it's moot. Ergo n/a. If it's whether you have registered, that could get tricky... Gee Cat, I'm glad to see you're standing up for us. No need, I registered when I turned 18. I played that game, got a 2-S 'get out of going' card. Then, they decided they didn't like that game anymore and threw the playing board on the floor! NO fair, I said, I was winning. Next, we had the draft lottery. I won that too, I drew 305. I'm a lucky guy. Now, I'm working at an AFB. So, what's the problem? You turn 18, you register, no big deal. It was a big deal when there was a draft, it's not now. You can keep ERA, I don't want my daughters to be elgible for the draft, if there ever is one. By the way, I work with a Capt who's pregnant too. I don't want to see her in combat either.
You can keep ERA, I don't want my daughters to be elgible for the draft, if there ever is one. But you don't give a cr@¶ about your sons? Nice. Stop putting the wrong candidates (i.e. the ones with misdirected anger issues) in office and then it shouldn't be a problem.
I guess I'm old fashioned, but I'd rather we men do the fighting, if it has to be done. I'd also like to keep it to a minimum as well. I like Patton's advice, the goal isn't for us to die for our cause, it's to make the other guy die for his. | |
