kinda lost my job, big changes... help!

I work in radio in the High Desert in California. its a wonderful job and it totally rocks! I' m a dj for the classic rock station and i' m also a board op./producer for 4 more stations.

well i made a huge mistake in the world of radio and i basically caused about 30 minutes of silence on the News Talk station over the weekend. it doesn' t matter why it happend (alarm didn' t go off but it WAS set... honest to friggen GOD truth right there) but it happened and i lost my Board Op. job. i' m still a dj for the classic rock station though.

SO! Heres the deal, I' m only 19 years old i had the greatest job EVER and now i' m down to about a $100 paycheck every two weeks... oh did i mention i have car payments($200), insurance($250), cell phone($70), and smoking($60) to pay for?

I' m attending the local community college buts just not for me. i want to attend a trade school in Hollywood for audio engineering.

i have an audition with the ARN (american radio network) tommorow evening and if i get that job, i' ll make $200 per show at partime or $20 an hour full time. eyther way, it will be enought to pay for all my bills.
i was also offered a job with Vivindi Games as a tester which pays $10 an hour 40+hours a week plus plenty of overtime. its not what i want to get into, but it would pay the bills until i' m done with school.

so my plan is to tell my mom who i' m still living with that i want to drop out of AVC, go to school in Hollywood,
get a good paying job down there and live with some friends. I' d stay here in town but its about an hour and half drive down there, and gas is another bill i dont want to pay. PLUS if i stay here with my mom and drop out of school, she' ll charge me rent anyways at $400 a month. i can move in with my friend (who has a spare room) for $360.

does all this sound like a good plan??? help!!!

Ok so first why is your insurance so high, I am assuming that this is monthly right?  Find cheaper insurance, pronto!

Next, quit smoking you can't afford it.

Next cut your cell phone plan by at least half.  You don't need more than the basics for now.

Finally you don't really have a plan yet.  You can't afford rent either at your friends or your moms house.  So first you will need to suck it up and get a job to pay your bills.  You are right it doesn't matter what happened, the fact is that it did happen and now you have to figure out how to pay the bills.

You don't say how much longer you have to go at the community college.  If it is under a year then stick with it, it won't hurt you and it will likely help you.

The Audio Engineering school can wait for a year and will add to your credentials.

You don't say where Vivindi is close to, your moms or Hollywood.  Depending on location take that job if you don't get the radio job.  Finish your AA then go to Audio School.

Here' s a pile of news you won' t want to hear:

You need to go to school somewhere.  You cannot get a good job if you don' t know how to do things that people are willing to pay for.  If you want to work in radio or something related, you' re going to have to read, write and spell a lot better than you did in your post.  Radio is a communications medium.  You have to be an EXCELLENT communicator all the way around, (not just a good talker).

You can' t afford to move to Hollywood and move in with your friend.  Unless you' ve got 6 months of rent in the bank, you just can' t even consider doing it unless you want to end up on Judge Judy.  You need rent, your car payment and insurance and occasionally, you' ll want some food.  If it takes you a while to find a job (very likely by the way) or you can' t find something that pays enough, you' re screwed, and so is your friend.  You' re going to be just another 19 year old with no education trying to "make it big" in Hollywood.  Frankly, people with your qualifications are a dime a dozen in Hollywood.  Getting a job at Starbucks won' t be easy much less in your field.

You' re 19, it is time to stand up and be an adult.  Being an adult is about exercising good judgment.  Leaving your station hanging 30 minutes is incredibly poor judgment.  You' re going to have to list that job on applications and explain that you got fired and why.  That' s going to make it very difficult for you to get hired in the field you want to be in.  This interview you' re going to is going to ask you what happened.  What are you planning to say?  In order to have a hope at this you' re going to have to own up to what happened and take responsibility for it and then explain what you' ve learned from it so that it won' t ever happen again.

So in short, no, it does not sound like a good plan.
