Novella 2007I wrote a previous post about a newspaper/magazine entity interested in contacting me for an opportunity. I spent a few nights thinking about the situation and came up with something. Today I took the initiative ( which happens only every so often ) in contacting the same person with a sense of constructive ideas. I said : if you have not yet made your decision, perhaps I can influence it by offering to write a 50-100 page Novella based on three poems and passages not unlike those I did give you as an example. If interested, feel free to contact me with further details. I have yet to think up a title or a target date beyond what I assume will be 3 months +, this should serve as an example of what I can do if I put my mind to it. ( Again, which doesn' t happen but every so often ) And your point is? BTW, this is a vent board, what is your vent about this now? It' s not a vent in the traditional sense, ( assuming you paid attention to one of my last messages ) this message is more wondering out loud. I' m not allowed to do that? of course you are allowed to wonder out loud. So now a bit of constructive criticism. Don' t ask if they would be interested. Write and submit. If you think that you have something to say that others would be interested in reading and that someone would pay you for then get busy and write it and submit it. That is what every other creative person does. Write and submit. Don' t wait for some obscure group to contact you. Get busy. Get proactive. Get to work. Stop venting. Stop wondering out loud Don' t wait for some vanity publisher to offer to publish you (where you will have to pay money you don' t have). Get busy. Get proactive. Get to work. The site looks familiar to what I think I came across earlier some months ago. As they say there' s no there, there. I liken it to the Capital One commercial where anyone who walks into a bank seeking an opportunity and the resources to accomplish something are often left out there and ignored. While riding high on your little suggestion, did you forget to disclose that piece of information? I sit and wonder, how long would it have been ( should I be that stupid ) before something, likely a scam, came calling on this ( so-called ) network? A week? A few months? Maybe even a year? Most likely. Whatever X. I and many others find the site full of useful information and worth the pittance paid for access to said information. It is purely a tool not a "promise" to get you published. If there was a promise it would be a scam. Since I get no benefit from providing you opportunities to learn your trade it is nothing to me whether you take advantage of it or not. Matter of fact it is simply one more indicator that you are incapable of self evaluation and identification of your own shortcomings. Nothing is free in this life X. The fact that someone(s) have provided the information in a comprehensive environment in which others participate is nice. The fact that they charge for their services is simply the American Way - they have a right to do so and you have a right to decline to pay. No skin of their noses. Go on with your bad self though. You will continue to wallow in the mess you create. Always railing at the world and the society that leaves you behind and treads upon your genius - you haven' t learned how to get noticed in positive ways so you will either continue to receive negative notice or no notice what so ever. Purely your choice. I' m smiling. You know why I' m smiling? Do you? As I read for yet another time your little merit slogan. I just thought of one person who you really should say that to. You know who that person is? Do you? Her name is Dannielynn Hope Marshall Stern. A baby less than a year old, the result of one in a number of sexual trysts involved with by her mother, could potentially be worth almost $750 million dollars. What in Hades does the outcome of her life have to do with the outcome of yours? So she got born with the potential that there might be, key word might, a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You got born, like 99% of the rest of the world having to work for it. Life sucks. Rather than bemoan the fact that you didn't get born with a silver spoon why not try to do something to change your pitiful circumstances. Whaaa Whaaa Whaaa. Whinny child. Get over it. You didn't get born with money - good looks - ambition obviously - the right connections - the right DNA. WHAAA WHAAA WHAAA Neither did 99% of the rest of the world. Difference is that most of us don't sit around with our thumbs up our proverbial a s s e s and cry about it. Well, we hope you do well and make a ton of money and find happiness. BTW, Writers Market is very helpful as a resource. There is also Writer' s Digest, which can provide helpful tips on actually getting published if you so wish. There are some very good resources out there if you want to look. The vanity press is costly and often useless. It tends not to be very helpful in launching anyone' s fame and fortune but if you just want to see your stuff printed, it' ll work. We wish you the best.
Just think, while she' s slurping her saliva looking adorable and cute, I' m being chastised by idiots like you on this occupational discussion board. Just think, while she' s being tickled, poked and prodded like a piece of $750 million dollar meat by every bloodsucking leech there is in the Bahamas and elsewhere, I' m having to sift through the endless regurgitated garbage that are - job advertisements, on this website and others. Not Qualified, Not Experienced, No Driver' s License, Not Bilingual. I' m not this, I' m not that, I' m not this, I' m not that, I' m not the other thing. And the beat goes on, and on and on, and on, and on again. | |
