My Easter Jog

Guess what.....I am here to vent

I posted a couple of months ago about dogs jumping on me while I am jogging...

Well - it finally happened, the Dog (gernman sheperd) bit me, both legs, I have two wounds (almost symmetrical) - with huge purple bruises around them......Had to go to emergency room, spend there four hours, had a tetanus shot and got prescription for antibiotics......

I filed police report and called animal control since this dog is out every other time I jog, before it just jumped on me, but yesterday (Happy Easter everyone) it was in a mood to bite' ...It is peculiar that I' ve talked to the lady that owns a dog prior to the biting accident  about her responsibilities as a dog owner

I am not even sure that it worth suing those people since they are rednecks and who knows when they will pay damages, plus I am moving to another city where I got a job and do not have time to sue anyone....

I am close to just walking up to their door and requesting a check from them......Sure that will help.....

I am not going to be able to wear skirts this spring......I am very mad and bitter

I' m sorry to hear about this--there' s no excuse for a dog owner to have their dog wandering about like that.

You may want to consider carrying pepper spray or mace (if allowed in your state) on your jogs--it won' t injure the dog (or mugger) but will protect you from attacks such as that.

I would also try to convince you to sue the owner anyway. This owner needs to have charges brought against him or her...not just pay damages. What happens when this dog mauls a small child or Grandpa?

That sure bites and barks!  I was looking forward to the skirts, too.

I' ve done some jogging myself over the years.  I find that most dogs will run if you chase them.  Never run from them.  If there' s a particular house that has a barking dog loose frequently, RUN SOMEWHERE ELSE!  Don' t take chances with your legs.

We had a problem in our neighborhood with a dog being allowed to run, and he was getting mean.  We got no help from the cops or animal control.  Finally, it took my husband and the guy next door separately going over to the woman' s house and telling her that next time, the dog would be SHOT.

Her dogs have since been relocated.

If an animal attacks you, you have every right to shoot it in self-defense.  Forget mace.

New Shopper, that is exactly what I did wrong this time - I ran from it, I was making a corner and the dog jumped on me very suddenly..

Anyway, I filed the report with cops and animal control supposedly guaranteed the dog.....

I doubt that there will be any good in suing the people - they look like poor blue collar folks...If anyone can offer some advice, it will be certainly appreciated

Sue them, it' s the insurance that actually pays.  Hopefully they are insured.

They need to take responsibility for their negligence.  This was not the first time the dog was running free.

Too bad that tainted dog food's still not around. You could throw a can of it on the ground the next time it came at you.

I wouldn't mind having that dog. I would set it off in a company's parking lot that I'm not too fond of right now.

That' s cowardly to send a dog.  Go over there yourself and give out some a$$ whup' ins.

First of all dogs are pursuit animals. If you are running from then they think you are afraid of them. If a dog starts to run after you turn towards them.

Here are a few things. You could jog with a cane or a stick and swing at them or carry tear gas in your hand. A lot of dogs have been gassed so when they see you hold it out they will back off. So if you really want to nail them you have to be quick.

Many state have lease laws check yours. You could have a lawyer write them a letter. You could try to sue them. If you have a digital camera get pics of the dog running free.
