A Novella Opportunity
I recently got a response from ( what I think is ) a newspaper/magazine source looking to recruit novella writers. Although I asked for more specific information - not about who they were, but the " job " itself and what I would be required to do as a writer. I didn't get it. So what did I do? I sent them four samples of my poems, I told them that although they are loose twists to what I plan to eventually write as part of an autobiographic novel, the poems I've written can be as they see, a mere two paragraphs or stretched out over 50 or more pages. I spent last night wondering a few things. Being an amateur writer, Im unfamiliar with novellas, what they are, and under what universal format ( if any ) do writers write them. Another was compensation. Is it arbitrary and could I negotiate salary and general requirements over work material? I seriously doubt I'll make any two week deadline for a 75 - 150 page manuscript novella, though I spent last night thinking about what material I would use for my first one. Why are you asking us questions, xttwo? You call all of us here idiots and profess to know more than everyone. You put down everything members here say and now you want us to help you answer your questions on this matter? I just signed a contract to be an expert writer for a marketing company. It is something I enjoy that I can do on the side and get paid for it. I' m surprised you don' t know more about writing since you keep telling us you are a writer but your messages say otherwise. And you don' t even know what kind of company you are dealing with. Like I said, the way that you treat people on this forum is not professional and you have been rude and mean to many members who have tried to help you. Why should we bother to help you now? I come here to vent, you idiot. When are you going to get that concept through that tremendously thick skull of yours. I don' t just spit fire when writing threads, I also ( as you can see ) talk very matter-of-fact-ly, asking rhetorical questions and wondering out loud. Haven' t you ever heard of those things before, or have you lived your entire life inside a plastic bubble? Jesus, Mary, and Jose' the Mexican. Look in the mirror, buddy, before you start calling people names again. You are such a loser. When people come to these forums on Monster and ask questions, it is because most of them want answers. If you just want to vent, say so. We can' t read minds. Look at what you just said, most follow. There' s a difference between thinking most follow, and what I might come to find out from this particular newspaper/magazine outlet. If it' s 85 pages, no sweat, I can write 85 page material in my sleep. If it' s a 40,000 word/300 page piece of work they want in less than two weeks, it' s a no-go for me. It would have helped if they were specific right off the bat. I' ve been saying it to you for quite awhile now, but you can' t seem to understand it. You' re like a sponge that doesn' t absorb any water. So you want to be a writer when you grow up? You have a lot of learning to do. You don' t make any sense whatsoever. If I do not absorb water, then I am not a sponge now am I? LOL I think you need to stop living with mommy and get out into the real world. You are right look at what I said. The standard is somewhere between. It is unlikely that you will be provided a specific page count or word count. Well I was thinking about adding to the previous message. Even rocks absorb water, but I think I made the point and left the message as is. As far as I' m concerned, you and a few others are both ignorant simpletons who as well loyal participants to my threads, responding with your usual comedy routines. Aside from that however, as with Dorrance Publishing ( an opportunity I' ve long since decided to discard ) this other opportunity makes two I' ve shared with you, the viewing community which makes your steady and consistent mis characterizations about me - become exponentially weak as more opportunities are sure to follow, the more material I continue to post on the website discussion forums that matter. - Thanks very much. | |
