The end is near.
On the heels of my brother' s job he got recently turning from temporary to permanent, at a department store of all places, - now the family focus is on me. The family wants me to work with him there. As you would expect, I verbally resisted it somewhat, when it was mentioned that security positions were also available. This recieved a counter response that I wasn' t too receptive to. But far be it for anyone to force me to work unsatisfactory employment, the end of my unemployment seems near. Two reasons. #1 his ( my brother ) getting the job and #2 my perpertual denials for upscale work in technology, specifically computers.
It seems you have truly found your niche.
Is your family helping to support you (financially)? If so, you need to get moving and get some sort of job quickly. It sounds like that train is pulling into the station and is going to collide with the end of your unemployment benefits. We can' t always get the job we want (for a number of reasons). When we returned to the US after living in Australia for 2 years, I worked a part-time job (24 hours a week) in a remotely related field and supplemented with another part-time job (also about 24-30 hours a week) at the fabric store for 2 years while my husband was in school. I' m an AVP, but I worked at the fabric store cutting fabric, running the cash register and stocking shelves to ensure that we could pay our rent until a full time high level job in my field came along. When it did, I commuted 2.5-3 hours EACH way, every day for 3 months until my husband finished school and we were able to relocate. That' s what you do to pay your bills. That' s what you do to get your foot in the door. A security job at the department store, heck, a clerk job at the department store opens the door to the internal job postings at the department store. At some point, they' re going to need a computer geek and you' ll be right there to put your application in. In the meantime, you' ll be paying your own way in life. Does this end to unemloyment mean an end to your entertaining postings here as well? Say it ain' t so, Who' s going to help me develop the powered coal powered auto? I would not hold my breath, young man. First, retail do not like hiring 'family', 'friends', or 'relatives' - thabe a red dot for HR in retail. I trully think you should get a job, but don't be holding your breath on thsi one. Department store? Why not just say Walmart. :-D For me, there has to be a train to catch, much less one to miss. Which is why I' m fast becoming a believer that some financial opportunity will befall me rather than a work opportunity. I seem to be ( lifelong ) a perpetual outsider. While everything in life seems to come easy, simple, and/or expected as the natural course of one' s life. I seem to be always the one having the most difficulty. But my attitude is, so be it. My personal project is something I always thought I' d spend the rest of my life R&Ding. Screw being a part of the rat race. | |
