This Is So Unfair2 weeks ago I applied at a mass retailer, and nearly a week after I got a call from them asking for an interview. I went the next day for the interview and I was interviewed by 2 different people(each interview lasted about 10 min)and then I was given a job offer. I had to pass a drug test and background check and then I would be coming in for orientation. Monday evening I got something in the mail from the company stating that there was some troubles with the background check. I had to wait the next day to call the company I applied to to find out the status of my empoyment. They told me as soon as I get cleared from the background check I could go in for orientation and that I had to call the company conducting the background check. So I did,and they told me how to clear it. Well I faxed them in the information yesterday(the same day I called). Today I got a card from the company stating that they refused the offer. But I figured I had to call the Hr because they said I would get the job if everything cleared. I called the company to find out if its beem cleared, they said it would take 5 to 7 days then I would get a call for orientation. I knew something wasn;t right about that, acording to the letter they got the results the same day they conduted the check. So I called the bgc company, and I asked the to check if I cleared, yes I did. So I called the store again and this time I couldn' t get ahold of the hr,in fact I heard a funny sound like maybe they kept trying to disconnect, then it went blank. So I called again, and someone else answered,I explained the situation and what they said, so they checked and I was cleared. They said they would call for orientation later and I said thank you,but I don' t think thats going to happen. I did everything I could, and I really wanted the job. I think the whole sitation is unfair. What do you think? Why do they lie? That is ...odd!! My guess is that they had another applicant lined up but he/she hadn' t decided to take the offer, the same time you applied so you could be the ' backup applicant' when the other one should decline. Sometimes management ' holds' two good applicants for the position, in case one declines at the last moment. Good not to work there, such secretive practices... Good luck with your job search. | |
