Obscene emailsHas anyone else been receiving emails offering them a "f*ck buddy"? Yes, it was actually spelled out. These new boards are linked to talkcity.com (I think) and got the red flag from McAfee Site Advisor. It' s one thing to get ads for Rolex replicas, work-at-home scams, and secret shopper "jobs", but this is going too far. I can' t imagine where else they' re coming from, as I don' t visit that type of site. What say you? any place that you enter your email opens you up to this stuff. just having an email account opens you up. my daughter gets them regulary (at age 12) and she only visits sites that I approve of and she has a juvenile account through our provider. All they have to do is luck into the screen name sometimes. ever looked at the "to" list and seen every spelling variation of something possible? It's like an autodialer for telemarketing. It just keeps changing the spelling until it hits something that goes through. I've even been impersonated and my email used to send out junk mail by spoofing. I have an email addy that I only use to contact close friends and family and nothing else and still get them and had it spoofed. i don't worry about them, just delete and move on. I get them all the time, in my Hotmail account, my Yahoo account, my gmail account -- even in my work account, which should be more protected than anything as it's through the KY college system! Like marketingdiva said, they often use an addressing system similar to an autodialer. I don't think they got your address through Monster; however they got your e-mail address, once they know it's a valid address (i.e., it didn't bounce back at them) they will continue to send their foul spam. Even changing your e-mail won't stop them for long. Just delete it. If your e-mail has a spam filter that lets you report spam with the click of a button (like Hotmail and Yahoo do) then do that and those e-mails will go to your spam folder so you don't have to look at them. Recieved, I' m the one sending them! Should I take you off my list? Spoilsport. Is that KY college system where they make the jelly of the same name? Yeah I get them constantly. Don't think it has anything to do with Monster at all. I have filters and three seperate e-mail accounts still get them. I just report them delete them and move on. Only advice I have is don't even open them just delete. Say, how about if I can restrain myself to just suggestive, but not obscene? I don't know. Never seen any jelly called Kentucky Community and Technical College System. But within the next year or so, we'll be a-makin' moonshine (ethanol) here! | |
