Sleeping on the JobHopefully the subject will catch everyone's eye. I am the Controller and HR Director at a home automation installation company. The Account Executive and I were the only ones here yesterday afternoon. I go up to the showroom, which has three "living room" areas, and there he is asleep on one of the couches. I don't personally care; however, there is a slight conundrum... We have surveillance cameras that are recorded on a DVR (and I happen to know our boss occasionally reviews them or watches when he's away via the internet). Here's my question, ordinarily I wouldn't rat out a co-worker, but what if the boss watches the recording and sees the AE was sleeping and then knows I didn't inform him that I knew he was sleeping. Looking forward to your responses! Since you are the HR Director, I believe it is your job to oversee ALL employees. Don' t you want to CYA and tell your boss what you saw? Is it your job to oversee this particular employee? If not, start a journal and write down all details concerning what you saw, that may CYA. If you are approached by the boss, you can show him/her the documentation. If this employee is your superior, the boss is likely to talk to him directly. Also, has this happened before? I do not think it would hurt for you to let this person know you saw him asleep on the coach, surely he is aware of the security system. | |
