Difficulty finding a job in my fieldHave been looking for a job as a lab for a year now. Live in Salem, Oregon area and willing to travel as far as Portland, Oregon. Have a Bachelor' s degree in Biology and 21 yrs. experience as a lab in a leading reference lab. Have had very little luck in landing a job. Worst part is my finances are almost gone, and will have to give up my rental house in 4 more weeks. Getting desperate. Anyone with any helpful advice will surely be appreciated.
Have you ever considered a sales position in your field? Those guys make great money and with your experience you're a shoe in.
Doesn' t look like there are a lot of openings in this field in Oregon. You may need to branch out. Sales, training, related careers... Check City, County and State government listings too. In Portland, most of the jobs here are low paying dead end jobs. I have been looking also but most the jobs I notice want so much experience that I do not have that I cannot even apply for them. I really want to move out of Oregon but cannot. I also notice that they have helo wanted signs and you apply they do not even call you back. I have called some of them and most will not even return my call. I am going to start looking on the state, county and goverment jobs and see what I can come up with. | |
