Help

I have interviewed for several positions lately and finally have a job offer.  The problem is, is that I have another position that I may be offered that I would prefer.  Is it appropriate for me to call and tell the second recruiter that I have a job offer but that I would prefer to work at their company?  Someone please help.

Remember, a bird in the hand is worth two in the bush.  However, at my last job, I have seen people come on for 1-2 weeks and then leave for a better paying job.  Maybe that is something you may consider.

Yes it is appropriate for you to let the recruiter know that you have another offer that you are considering.  I would tell them you would prefer to work for their company in the position that you have been interviewing for, but the offer you have is interesting and you are considering it.  They will ask you for details of the offer and when you need to make a decision.
Play the two offers off of one another. "Hi, I just wanted to let you know that if you' re considering giving me that job, I' ll need to know in a reasonable amount of time, because I have another offer I' m considering. I would prefer your offer but ..." Then, "Hi, I' m glad you gave me that offer, and I' m considering it. I' m waiting to hear from another potential employer or two, in order that I know my options. Is there a deadline by which you need to hear from me?"
