RecruitersI' ve got a problem with a recruiter who' s name I' ll refrain from using. My problem is that this particular person has reportedly sent my resume to over 10 different locations and each time I call to follow up, I get this canned response: "If I haven' t heard anything, they' re not interested" For starters, I don' t believe it. I would hope that at least the person would make a follow up call to see if they were interested in ANYONE! Is there a way to follow up or express these concerns with the recruiter' s boss? What would be the best approach? Is there any way to verify if the employers DID receive anything from this person? Anyway of doing a verification on this person' s work? Believe what they tell you. Agencies deal in volume, not quality. They usually do not take time to call a potential or actual client and are busy playing the numbers game - throw enough s*** against the wall, some of it will stick. If they get a call back, then they will be in touch with you. In the agency world, follow up calls do not make them money, they COST money. They get paid only when you get hired and unless you can walk on water (and few of us really are that great), s/he has no real reason to call everyone they emailed to plead your case. This is why you are not doing yourself much of a favor by relying on tsearch firms or agencies. So, here' s a follow up question then: If one search firm says they have a position at a company that another search firm has supposedly presented my resume to, what are the repercussions then? I ask because I' m facing this situation and trying to determine what the best approach to take is. | |
