Do you feel like you are the slave

Hi,

I haven't been on this board for awhile....I started working for this job as a consultant.  They liked me, they hired me....yes, I should be happy I have a job.  But,,,,,,I am starting to notice that some people, for instance,  your 'managers', other higher ups, etc. have very poor time management skills.  They are not focused on customer service.  The spend all day in meetings doing who knows what.  Then....finally....when the meetings are over,,,,,they decide to call me with their urgent needs.  Yes, during the day, the customers call me and I can't solve their problems because I don't have the 'rank, clout....etc'  because the ones who do are always tied up in meetings.

I work for a health insurance company and I really feel bad when  I hear that  a subscriber cannot receive her benefits....I don't know what to say.

I guess they (the managers) lose sight on what the company is about they are too busy sucking upangryangryangryangryangry.

And making the big bucks.

Oh, I know what you're saying. I used to work for a theme park, and management reeked--to put it mildly! They were so cheap, they wouldn't buy maintenence supplies for either the  rides maintenence department or cleaning supplies for the ride operations department. Supervisors were seldom available, and if you needed a bathroom break, you'd better be wearing adult diapers. Lunch and rest breaks? Right before I left, you were lucky if you got your lunch break; we weren't getting some of our rest breaks like we were supposed to. The rules kept changing, with no notice, because management was hopelessly anal. If a guest made trouble--and most of the time it was either their refusal to obey rules meant for their safety, or they made something up to get someone into trouble, they'd run to management and scream at them, and the guest would end up getting like free tickets to come back again, or something. The guests knew how to work the system and they abused it to the max. And considering that we were paid only minimum wage or only a little bit more--despite the fact that ride operators are responsible for guest safety and should be paid accordingly. I'm still waiting for that dump to collapse in on itself--the rides are already falling apart due to lack of maintenence. Here's proof--www.kbfdrama.com. And every word is true.

General workers can be lazy too. I am a consumer and every time I wall into a store I demand to be treated professionally. Here is my thinking about it. You applied for the job. No one forced you to work at that job. So it is your responsibility to assist your customer!

Home Depot is the main focus of my complaint. Their BOZO workers never ask if you need help. They are not helpful and if they do give you advice, almost always it is wrong. I think Home Depot managers should crack down on these lazy clowns.

I am in a management position so I try to lead by demonstration. When I am out on the casino floor or somewhere in the hotel, I always greet guests with a "Good Morning" and if they seem to be lost, I assist them. I was on the casino floor last week when someone needed assistance to a certain restaurant. I walked them to the restaurant and made small talk with the guest. This made them feel like we valued their business. Many of my colleagues saw this and they adopted my style as well.
