Invited to a BOTOX party

I'm 46!  I went to have my eye brows waxed off - my one "indulgence" to make up - not to say that I don't wear make up but I keep it to a minimum and mostly for work.  I know it was a marketing comment at the "spa" but  I was slightly offended.  I'm not age phobic, but after spending the last two years getting healthy ,losing weight, excersiing and eating more organic foods why would I want to inject poison into my face?

And on another note I think wrinkles should be counted as badges of honor, but of course that would lose the cosmetic companies billions of dollars.  I'm very thankful my mother did not die her hair or wear pounds of make up.  She gave me a healthy attitude about aging and body image!

I spewed coffee over myself I laughed so hard when I read the topic of this one.

A BOTOX party.  What is next?

Hi Atlantaz,

Don't be offended! In this day and age 20 year olds are getting Botox three times a week, it's almost an epidemic! Women and men are constantly seeing people that have had face lifts, and every type of plastic surgery they can think of, this is setting such a terrible example for everyone. You rarely hear about the fact that Botox has some very, very severe side effects, lasts for two to three weeks at the most, and may be causing damage to the immune system. Look at the number of women that have had #### augmentation and are now battling cancer. There are safe skin care treatments offered by dermatologists that do not involve injections or surgery. I happen to think that taking care of the skin you have is first and foremost.

Just for the heck of it, do a 'Google search' on Results of Bad Plastic Surgery, you'll be so glad you have such a healthy attitude! I just don't think that people should be allowing themselves to be put under a general anesthetic for cosmetic surgery regularly, and I do admit that some forms of plastic surgery can be beneficial. When I look at the pictures of stars that have had botched plastic surgery, I have to remind myself that these people have also had as many as 10 procedures on their face alone.

Anyway, I agree with you 100%!

I can't believe you bleeped that word Monster!
I had reconstrictive surgery after a mastecomy in 99 and I am glad I did - it was a long recovery - longer than when they removed ti in the first place but at almost age 50 I am one of the few women I know that doesnt need to wear a bar anymore - :)

What do you mean you had them waxed off?  I get my brows waxed, shaped, and cleaned up every time I get a haircut which is every six weeks to two months.  They are thinning out anyway and I like the thin brow look.

I use a minimum of makeup (eye brow pencil and lipstick) and no form of plastic surgery or botox would ever appeal to me under any circumstances.  Aging is a natural process, and I have absolutely no desire to look ten or twenty years younger.  I am not interested.

A friend of my daughter's is about the same age as she is (Michelle is 36) has already had her #### enlarged and botox treatments.  She has probably had other common forms of plastic surgery by now.  She does this as often as she can and charges surgeries and treatments to her credit card.

In fact she lost a pretty good job recently as an office manager when she revealed the scar on her #### to a guy at work.  She was fired, of course.  According to Michelle, her looks matter to her more than anything else and she obsesses about every little flaw - real or imaginary.  I could go on and on but everyone gets my point, I am sure.

She has a slim figure but dresses like a hooker and uses heavy makeup as well.  I guess she is in the market for a husband and thinks this is what most men are looking for.

On the plus side, she is on her own and independent and has a good personality, and she is bright and interesting.  Perhaps she will grow up one of these days.  I hope so.  I have known her and her mom and brother since 1981 when we first moved to Florida.
