Studying overseas. ARGH.

I feel knocked back by every avenue I' m exploring to try to get to study overseas.

I have friends and relatives in Canada and its been my dream for the past year to attend university there. My family is not wealthy, and my parents have agreed to support me partially, but its not nearly enough to cover all the costs. So I' ve been exploring scholarships/loans/sponsorships in order to get there. I' m Australian. The Australian government is NOT proactive about providing loans for its citizens to study abroad (at least, those wanting to attend the full 4 years overseas).

I' ve been scouring scholarship websites but everytime I see something promising, ohh, wait -- "Must be a US citizen to be eligible". I thought I' d found a really good student loan program, but, ohh, wait - "If you are not a US citizen, you must be planning to study in the US to be eligible for a loan". Either that, or I need a US co signer. Hmm. Which I don' t have.

I think I can get some loans off the aussie government but its nothing substantial.

About the only scholarships I' ve found that I can actually enter are on FastWeb - but even then, I think its best to email them beforehand to ask if I' m eligible. Don' t want to start writing an essay on overcoming hardships if I' m not even allowed to enter, aha.

I wish I' d been born American. It seems as if it' d be so much easier then. Of course, taking into account the US' huge population, it' d be more competitive, but at least there' d be the OPTION of so many scholarships and loans. Blaaaaah.

Sorry for sounding whiny and pitiful. I' m just frustrated and needed to vent. I' ll get over it and keep persisting once the pessimism cloud stops raining on me.
