Well, I think the big question is do you have an aptitude and interest for that side of the business. You would be using your technical knowledge, but would need to bring new skills and behaviours. If you don' t have them, then not a good idea. If you do, then an option.

From an MBA perspective, there are lots of software engineers who gather some work experience and then go enter the program. Getting some commercial experience can be more relevant if you truly want to be on the business side of things. You don' t have very much technical experience, so if you leave now, you are basically steering your career into the business side of things, which is fine, but just be conscious about it.
