To old to change

I' ve been an artist in one form or another all my adult life. Every field I' ve gotten into, from custom airbrushing to sign painting to picture framing has, at least in this area, gone the way of the horse and buggy. Whether it be changing styles, technology, or politics (out sourcing) I keep finding myself on the outside. At 55 I think I' m still too young to hang it up.

This time I decided to make some changes. It was suggested that I go back to school to get a bachelors degree in computer graphics (3D, Animation). It is something I' ve been very interested in for years but everything locally (Philadelphia) requires a degree; nothing entry level. I took the leap and started classes last spring at the Art Institute.

My big question to anybody out there is what kind of chance does someone my age have in the job market to make enough money to pay off these loans. I' m well aware of the youth market I' ll be walking into but I' m hoping that a lifetime of art experience will count for something. I' m always looking for grants and scholarships, of course, but they don' t really make a dent in what the final bill looks to be.
