Salesman seeking his nitch
I enjoy sales and have realized one of my strengths is sharing product knowledge when needed to build rapport. I am looking for a field where the customer depends on me to provide product knowledge and realizes they don't already know it all and that not all competitors are alike, so it's not just smooze. I have been told that I can have an engineers demeanor and can be analytical, and that it will help me in above type jobs while it can hurt me when it's all just smooze. However I do have a sequencing learning disability so it cannot be real heavy science, just something that takes a week of product knowledge before starting to see customers. I have seen one job category that sounds good and would like comments on, that is Sales Representative-Wholesale and Manufacturing, except Technical and Scientific Products. I have been in phone sales for the last 2 1/2 years, and I don't mind remaining in phone sales but am willing to transition to in person sales if the right opportunity comes along. Please advise.
I think you have answered your own questions. Do your job searches, Ignore the companies / jobs that don't seem like a fit. Flag the ones that do. And you will see a pattern emerge. And perhaps a real interest in a specific niche. Ian Christie Career Changers Coach | |
