To Ian Christie

hey Ian

I was wondering if you can tell me how to explain the changes in Jobs I made.
I had first job out of school, I am changing the job after a year in March now.
I am not extrely sure that this is going to be a very good job.

I will be changing the job again later after a year or So......

I want to know what genuine reasons can I present to the interviewers about the carrer changes that I made so far.

I am sure the question is clear enough....if not please ask and I can post more information...

I am not sure I understand your career path so far.

You have been out of school 1 year, and are getting ready to change jobs after just one year. If so, and that is your only change, it isn't a big deal at your age / stage. Part of getting started in your career is experimenting a bit.

You should always be positive. Never negative. You should explain that it was a great experience, but you feel ready for the next challenge, and more specifically, in this target area (whatever it is).

However, if there are more moves I don't understand, please let me know.

ok Ian

I graduated from school last April.

The company was expecting me in a supervisors role I guess as they are hiring a supervisor to replace me.
I did my masters from USA, originally from India, coming from a technical background I was not having a supervisory experience.

I have accepted another position from another company and moving ahead.

The question is how badly the carrer move is it going to affect my carrer ?

Also, I have joined a company, which was bought recently by another company. The company is not Structured  very well.

Being a technical expert, I want to work with a group of engineers. There are no engineers in my company right now.

Would appreciate your thoughts on how to explain my carrer moves.

The one which happened right now and the next one which I am planning soon........

please advise

Ian

Havent received any post so far. I can understand you must be busy.

To be more specific, I have accepted a Survival Job right now as I want to continue in Medicaldevice Manufacturing Industry and hold my status.

However, I think I want a more better and secure job and will be looking and keeping my eyes open.

Please tell me some Ideas to Spin the Story in my favour when I go for the next interview.

Appreciate your thoughts.

Thanks for your patience. Been travelling back from Asia the last few days.

Your premise is how badly your moves will impact you. Perhaps you should reframe the premise. We make moves to get ahead, to move our career forward, to challenge ourselves, and to get out of a bad situation (but again, moving forward). So, you are making choices, and in doing so, you need to make the best choices given the circumstances, and then be confident about it.

If you are looking again, after a short stint at this job, then it needs to be for a good reason. The company being acquired and the environment changing is a good reason.

Running towards something exciting and a good fit is also a good reason.

But there is no two ways around it. 2-3 jobs in 18 months is a lot of change. And there is no way that you can remove that it is occuring or has occurred. You can try and sell it, but since you are the one making the voluntary change, you need to do it in a persuasive, authentic way. And realize that not everyone is going to buy what you are saying. That is just the way it is.

The best approach is this. If you are going for this particular industry and it truly is your focus and you want to make a career out of it, you can make sure to emphasize how much you want this, and you wouldn't be considering moving otherwise, but between this opportunity and the fact that your current company changed hands, this is why you are applying.
