Teaching and Wondering...

Good afternoon, Monster community.  I am currently a fourth-year public middle school teacher in North Carolina.  After having completed almost four years, I am starting to wonder if I can use my talent and intelligence in another capacity.  I like teaching, but I'm a great presenter and work well with other people.  I want to be able to present ideas without being interrupted by moody sixth-graders, and often wonder what it would be like to work with adults.  Teaching has given me a thick skin, but it's also made me wonder what else there might be.  As I look through the postings, most stuff requires a degree in a certain area, and generally education degrees are good for teaching only.  I have a head for numbers and am interested in the business world, possibly in banking, and have also considered the possibility of being a corporate trainer or something to that capacity.

Sorry for ranting, but the point is as a teacher, what can I do other than teaching?  I am seeking advice from all who may have it...but I'm not really interested in getting another degree when I've worked so hard for the one I've got.  What careers would allow me and my wife (another teacher in wondering) to have options?  Please let me know with anything you have.  Thanks for your time, and have a wonderful day!!

Teaching adults is dramatically different than teaching children.  Try a workshop or something on adult education to see if this is a direction you REALLY want to go.  While you think that moody 12 year olds are a tough crowd, let me tell you a boardroom full of people who don't want to be there aren't much fun either.

There aren't many jobs for corporate trainers these days.  The ones that are out there require experience and background in adult education (or should require it), experience with computer based training development (both from a curriculum standpoint and a technical one), and usually some sort of expertise in whatever it is that the company actually does.  Have a browse through Monster's postings for "Corporate Trainer" and see what they're looking for and how you'd stack up, then if that's really what you want to do, you can start working towards that.
