How to dael with an early change

Here is an interesting situation.

I have just been offered a job with a small, private company that has taken my interest. What is keeping me doubting is the fact that I just started working in a big, multinational company just a month ago. I feel bad for leaving the job half done and I also feel that the other job offer fits me more than the current one.

One of the main reasons for not liking the current job is theatmosphere that I feel is not suiting my personality. And the feelingthat I am being used as the contract was for four months setting up adatabase. The future has been unclear. The other offer is paid less ina better feeling atmosphere with the possibility to grow, starting from a lower position.

I would appreciate feed-back on how to deal with the situation and how to tell my boss with grace and respect that I have found another job.

I thank any for your time and help!

Eva,
It sounds like you have made your decision.

You are 1 month into a 4 month contract? Can you negotiate with the small company for a later start date? Sometimes that will work.

Just so I understand, you would be trading a contract for a full-time, permanent job? If so, that can factor into your discussion. The reality is that you accepted a contract, and want to get out of it. If you can't negotiate a different start date, then you have to accept the fact that the reaction of the people who hired you may not be a positive one. The best you can do is give them a professional resignation and notice, tell your manager personally that you have been offered a FT, Perm career opportunity, that you absolutely understand that the timing is bad, but it is an opportunity you can't pass up. Ask what you can do to facilitate the transition.

Of course, do nothing until you have a written, signed offer from the new company.
