Advice needed: Utilizing my degree
Hi, I work in sales for a major home improvement corporation. Six years agoat age 40, I attained a BS in Information Systems thinking I would become anetwork analyst or engineer. Ironically halfway through my schooling, I lostinterest in this but still managed to graduate. Soon after, I took a low paying retail job asa “temporary” position but I’ve held onto it believing that an IS degree had limited worth outside of the techie computer industry. I’ve been disappointed with myself ever since. I like sales and I like people. With the right product knowledge I’m verygood at communicating and giving advice to them, and I honestly care abouttheir needs. How do I pair my degree andsales experience into a good paying job that I look forward to going toeveryday? Surely there’s something outthere? Thanks… Hi Jon,
Sounds to me like you could combine your interest in sales with your degree in something like a sales engineer (or pre-sale) or a sales consultant position for a company like Sun Microsystems or any number of network infrastructure companies. Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion. I think you've got something there. I'll research this idea thoroughly. Jon | |
