re entering workforce
After spending the past 2 yrs as stay at home parent, I am reentering the workforce and not only that I want to transition to HR from Hospitality mgmt. I have redone my resume & applied in few places but have not recieved a single response. Though I lack in formal training in HR but working as manager have given me lot of exposure to HR related topics. I don't want to do any courses immediately, maybe later if I am able to break into it to further my career prospects. I do have a certificate in SHRM Learning system. Please can anyone give any recommendation or advice on how to conduct my job search as well if anyone has any leads that would be highly appreciated. Thanks..
Post your resume and cover letter on the appropriate boards in this section of Monster. Omit any identifying information. You will receive a number of board members willing to help you fine tune your resume so that you can highlight your strengths, play up your abilities and find the job that you will be happiest at performing.
Hi, Thanks for your response, must be something wrong with the resume or my skill set. I will definitely email you my resume in your Sbcglobal account , another pair of eyes is always better. Please let me know your thoughts & advice. thanks again... Sushmita
wonderful suggestion, I'll post it. Thanks
I just want to add that applying to jobs online is 1/ONE important, but incomplete job search approach. Target companies. Use your existing network and expand it. Try and connect the two. Talking to people who will get the transferability of what you've done is a certain way to increase your job search effectiveness. Ian Christie Career Changers Coach | |
