No degree,No luck!
Frankly, until you have the degree, you probably won't get past the first screening. You can list on your resume that you're working on it by writing: Education: Acme College BS in Business Management anticipated graduation date 2010
If that doesn't help, that's all there is. If they really require the degree, you can't pass go until you get it. If they don't care so much, they'll at least interview you and you can sell to them why you're great for the job.

That pretty much sums up what I was anticipating I'd hear. With my 62 credits I'm about due for a school transfer either to a university or an accelerated online course. Any experience w/ employers giving preferrence to the university degree or are the online degrees just as well accepted? Thanks for your reply by the way...
That really depends. If you have a choice, I'd go with an accelerated program run by a reputable brick and mortar school. If you go with University of Phoenix or something similar you're going to spend a lot of time and energy defending your degree to those that don't think it is good enough. That's not what you're getting one for! You getting one to make the question of a degree go away, not open new questions. MANY brick and mortar schools have these programs now.

Go to a REAL university if possible. If you can't then only go with an online program from a REAL university that has been around a long time. This is especially important for you bachelor's degree. This what kicks off your career. Too many mangers and HR drones will throw your resume away if they see some diploma mill like U of Phoenix on your resume. I know that may tick off some U of Phoe grads, but that is reality. The only time I ever hear anything positibe about the U of Phoe it comes from one of their customers...I mean students. You never hear managers, directors, CEOs, VPs, or HR mention them in a positive light. | |
