In a rut
I graduated from college in 2002 with a BA in International Studies and took French as part of my major. I went to France in July 2001 to study. I should have spent my final year in college looking for a job, but I did not. I think I was naive and believed all I needed was a degree and I would be set. When I graduated I had to take what I could find, which was customer service in a call center. I've done various call center jobs plus telemarketing over the years. Recently I wanted to get away from call centers, so I took a sales job at JCPenney, but I would like to do something with better pay and more room for advancement. Now it's been nearly 6 years since I graduated, and I have not used my degree at all. I have started to teach myself Spanish and plan on taking classes to learn it so I can have something more marketable on my resume. I live in Oregon, and Spanish speakers are in demand. However, when I decided on my major in college, my intentions were to travel and live somewhere to enhance my French skills. What is a good resource to use to find jobs abroad? Why don't you look at a job at Nike? They're based in Beaverton, they are an international company (so your degree should be very relevant) and sales ties in too. You could start with something entry-level at the Corporate Campus and work your way (eventually) to something where you travel or are assigned overseas for a period of time.
