Career Tips

This is a relatively difficult question

Help.!

I manage a small start up company, where the owners say that their goal is to every year reduce the net income to zero, in order to avoid taxation. Growth is never really talked about.

I am just beginning a career here, and I am wondering if it is foolish or suicidal to run this company, when there is no chance to increase equity over time.

wouldnt it be much smarter to manage part a growth oriented company? with chances of promotion and significant pay increases that result from growth?

I like running this company, but since it is small and i can not learn any new career skills here, and since it is the stated policy to make sure any extra earnings we generate go out the back door,  is it not a very bad decision to remain here instead of joining middle management somewhere in the corporate world?

i can understand the need to reduce some net from the owners perspective, but this i think is directly contrary to my interests.

thanks for some advice,

Hmm. It doesn't sound suicidal, but if you aren't earning anything, and you can't create some equity / wealth, I think you might be answering your own question. Does it have to be this or another corporate roll. Why not something similar, but without that same owner's attitude....
