New Interpreter

I have finished a program for Medical Interpreting and am looking for work.  I will take just about anything that I can get because I have very little experience as an interpreter.  Jobs for interpreters are not advertised and hospital or clinic websites do not even mention interpreters.  Does anyone know about the field of Medical Interpreting and how you get started?  How can I get experience if I don't get a job?  I have worked as a volunteer and shadowed interpreters.  I am trying hard to find out who to send resumes to.  It makes me wonder whether I should have become a nurse instead, even though I know what a difficult job that is.
What does the medical interpreting program say....they should be able to offer you some guidance. If they haven't, you haven't been well served. Do a google search, I see a bunch of information when I search. Good luck.

Thank you for your ideas.  I have found a couple sites but I will Google "interpreting" and "interpreters" again and see what I find.  Unfortunately, my school has not done much to help its new graduates get jobs.  I am grateful for two recommendations from my professors.  The coordinator of the program has said that when the school hears about openings, she emails students.   Meanwhile, I an encouraged to take their two semester course in mental health interpreting.  I'd like to see if I can get a job before I start investing more time and money.  Are there any interpreters out there?
