Engineer to Actuary Career Change

I am a degree qualified Electronic Engineer having graduated in 1994 and worked in numerous Engineering roles and Industry types since qualifying. I am 35 years old.

At the moment I am contemplating a total career change, and for years the subject of Actuary as a career has always interested me. I personally think that I would be very suited to this type of Career and I have a very strong background in Maths both from second level and University education.

I would appreciate some advice on this in terms of is it an advisable option based on my age and current career, Would I qualify for entry and what would be the best route to enter and qualify.

Any thoughts, opinions would be well appreciated.

I don' t have specific answers for you, but this is one of those fields that is highly centralized and organized. Check with the actuarial governing associations.

From what I know of the field, it is all about levels. You work, you study, you take exams and you rise up based on your passing marks in those exams to the next level. Very structured.
