Breaking contract

Hi,

I have been out of work for a long time. Mainly because I took a couple of years off to pursue Entrepenuership endeavors. But, that is besides the point. Well, I finally got hired into a company at a lower pay and less skill set. I am having to deal with some real characters. So, now I want to move up and out. I don't want to stay in the city or company I am with. I am presently located in the middle of nowhere, which I suppose is how I got the job in the first place.

Well, after I was hired, the contracting company notified me that there is no over-time pay. Now, with their scheduling, they are going to want me to work overtime. That and the other reasons is why I am looking to pursue another career in another company in another state. The only problem is the contract.

Can a person working on contract break the contract? Even though the hiring company was the first to break the contract?

I work for a govermental company, which is another thing I don't like. They are really anal and I have already been harassed by the security guards. Another employee told me of a story that somebody just downloaded a IP sniffer for a project he was working on and was escorted out of the building. They had to talk to the boss and he was eventually let back in. To me, that would be the best thing to happen. I wouldn't look back, but I need another job first.

Here is an example of the kind of things I have to deal with. They tell me it is an interface. I tried to argue, but they are firm in their decision. So, let them keep it and deal with it. I will not tolerate dealing with this as I seek perfection. There. You have my number 1 weakness.

public class SomeClass() : SomeBaseClass

{

      SomeBaseClass  x = new myBaseClass();

}

Thanks,

It all depends on what sort of "contract" you have.  Spring a few bucks and see a lawyer for a good answer.
