Attorney to Financial AnalystHey all, I am an attorney by training, but I am looking to make a transition from law to the financial world. I attended Yale University where I majored in East Asian Studies (focused on Japanese business culture), and went on to receive my JD at a top-tier law school where I graduated in the top third of my class. I don't have a problem with the practice of law per se, but I've realized in the course of mergers and acquisitions work that I find the financial world more interesting. I'm very good with numbers and read the Wall Street Journal, texts on financial analysis, and watch CNBC religiously. I don't have any formal education in finance - the closest thing at Yale undergraduate is Economics. However, I have done work in corporate transactions and mergers and acquisitions, and I feel that I could easily make a transition into a financial analyst job. I am not in New York - I moved back to Florida after law school. However, Raymond James is headquartered nearby, and most if not all of the big-name financials have offices in town. If anyone has experience in a similar career move, I would love any advice I may be able to receive. Thanks in advance! | |
