BlacklistedIs it possible to be blacklisted? How do you fight that? I have been unemployed for some time now, qualified for most of the jobs I have applied for, and find it hard to believe that jobs applied for whether temp or perm have not responded. Maybe I'm dreaming, this is just unbelieveable. Could it be your references? I would check your references first. When the hiring manager gives you the news do you ask why as in is it because lack of something? Finding a job nowadays is so hard. Hang in there. I am in the same boat as you. If you aren't getting as far as an interview, then no, you're not being blacklisted. Companies get hundreds, often thousands of applications these days for every job. They only select the best for interviews. The first place to start is with your resume and application. It is critical that you customize the resume for each job and in the cover letter, give them a REASON to call you in for an interview. Tell them why what's on your resume is what they need. Tess
I will keep saying it - applying to online postings should represent an important part, but not the only part of your strategy. Based on what you have told us, I don't think you are being blacklisted. Of course, if there is something really bad in your background that would cause employers to not hire you, then that's an issue to deal with. But in general, there is little chance of blacklisting in a mass sense. More likely that:
