School counselor advice
I'm looking to change careers and have a strong interest in school counseling. I have a Masters in Counseling Psychology but I obtained that degree 9 years ago and after graduation I moved across the country, ended up getting involved in something completely different and lost touch with all my mentors and contacts. So now I'm basically feeling a little lost as to how to get back involved in the field I stepped away from. From what I understand, in order to be a school counselor I would have to return to school, but several of the schools I've looked into won't transfer any of my credits because I obtained my Masters over 7 years ago. I don't have the time, finances, or quite honestly, the drive to do an entire Masters program again. Is my degree really of no value since it's been so long? Or am I totally misinformed about how to achieve my goal of becoming a school counselor? If so, any advice on where I can obtain some proper direction? I'm hoping someone can give some input... and I thank you in advance for your time! | |
