Feeling LostIt has been two months since my recent position was terminated. It was in the public sector and dealt with marketing of environmental programs and solid waste collection programs. I feel as though my position was terminated due to lack of good job performance. I have to say that I felt out of place since my background is in administration and analysis. I also felt as though I was being micro-managed. Should I try to get back into the public sector in another capacity or try a new field? If you have been terminated from a job in a particular field, can you still get a job within that field again? Any suggestions or thoughts would be helpful. Also, if it is suggested I should get into a new field, how do I go about doing that? Thanks Are you saying that you were let go, or you were let go AND the position / job was deleted/cancelled? There are some big questions for you to figure out. You were doing a job you weren' t comfortable doing. Why? Why were you selected for this job in the first place? What did you learn in this role that you can take somewhere else? Experiences? Skills? What, if anything was a good fit that you would like more of? Remember this model.... Hang in there jvsnbd. I am currently going through a similar experience. We need to both figure out --' what would I like to do?' . I have 5 years of auto claim experience with a company that I loved and have just lost my job over a ridiculous allegation of violating company policy. Just remember, you are not the only one going through a feeling of being lost. | |
