Career Counselor


    Not sure if this is the right board, but does anyone have any suggestions on how to find a good career counselor.  I know there's the internet, but this seems like a crapshoot.  I've been in the workforce for 10 years so i am far removed from school.
I am not sure that I would agree that the internet is a crap shoot. I think it offers you a lot more vetting ability than, let's say Yellow Page ads.

  • Ask friends and collegues for a referral
  • Local listings in yellow pages
  • Career centre from your college / university
  • Internet - via google searches, via links from articles, blogs, etc.
  • Internet via a service like http://linkedin.com which has a service provider feature and allows people to recommend career counselors
  • A professional association, if you have one..
